Reports & Notifications



The Reports and Notifications page provides you with predefined reports based on eScan modules. It also provides you with options to customize the eScan server to send these reports to specific recipients at specific times and create custom reports based on certain criteria.

User Interface

The Reports & Notifications page is displayed when you click Reports & Notifications in the navigation bar.
This page displays a table containing report names and a View link next to each name. You can click this link to view the corresponding report. The page provides you with options for creating new reports, viewing the properties of reports, and viewing, configuring, and deleting existing reports.



Managing Reports

The eScan Management Console comes with comprehensive reporting capabilities. It allows you to view predefined reports, create existing reports based on predefined reports, and customize existing reports for computers or for a group of computers.
This page has the following buttons: New Report, Configure Report, Properties, Refresh, and Delete.



New Report

You can also create reports for multiple eScan modules for a specified period based on your requirements. For example, you can create reports for a current date, week, month, year, date range, or for the days since eScan was installed. In addition, you can configure the report to be sorted by the date, name of the computer, virus, and the action taken.



The steps to create a new report are as follows:

1. In the eScan Management Console, in the left pane, under Dashboard, click Reports & Notifications.
2. On the Reports & Notifications page, on the right pane, click New Report.
3. On the New Report Template page, in the Report Name box, type a name for the report.
4. Under Report Template, under Report Type, click the type of report that you want to view.
5. Under Report Period & SortBy, under Date Options, click the appropriate period, and then under Sort By, click the sort criteria.
6. Next, to generate a report for groups, under Select Computers/Groups, under Select Condition, click Generate a report for groups, and then in the Select Target Groups box, under Managed Computers, select the appropriate group names. To select all groups, select the Managed Computers check box.
7. Alternately, to generate a report for a list of computers, under Select Computers/Groups, under Select Condition, click Generate a report for a list of computers, and then in the Select Client Computers box, under Managed Computers, select the appropriate computer names.
8. To save the settings and to create a report, click Save.



Configure Report

You can customize existing reports for computers or for a group of computers. The pre-existing reports available are Virus Report, Web Protection Report, Anti-Spam Report, Mail Anti-Virus Report, Application Control Report, USB Control Report, and Update Report.
eScan will either send the report to the specified e-mail address or save the report to the specified shared folder on the scheduled date and time based on your settings.



The steps to configure an existing report are as follows:

1. In the eScan Management Console, in the left pane, under Dashboard, click Reports & Notifications.
2. On the Reports & Notifications page, on the right pane, in the table, select the check box next to the name of the report that you want to configure, and then click Configure Report.
3. On the Configure Report page, under Task Name, in the New Task Name box, type a name for the task, under Settings, in the Select a template for creating a report box, select the appropriate options.
4. To send the report by e-mail, select the Send report by email check box.
5. To save the report to a shared folder, select the Save report to folder(shared folder on server or local computers) check box, and then in the box, type the path of the shared folder.
6. To enable the scheduler, under Task scheduling settings, click Enable Scheduler. Alternately, you can start the scheduler manually by clicking Manual Start.
7. To generate reports on a daily basis, click Daily, else to generate report monthly, click Weekly, and then select the appropriate day of the week.
8. To generate reports on a monthly basis, click Monthly, and then select the number of months from the drop-down list.
9. To save the report and create a scheduled task, click Save.



Properties

You can view the properties of existing reports by clicking the report names and then clicking Properties. These properties include the name of the report, the date of creation, date of modification, sort criteria, and the available groups.



The steps to configure an existing report are as follows:

1. In the eScan Management Console, in the left pane, under Dashboard, click Reports & Notifications.
2. On the Reports & Notifications page, on the right pane, in the table, select the check box next to the name of the report that you want to configure, and then click Properties.
3. On the Properties page, the General tab, shows you the report name, and details regarding the report such as the template type, date of creation, and date of modification. The Report Period & SortBy tab displays the date options and the sort criteria. The Groups tab displays the available groups in the left list and the selected groups in the right list. You can make changes, if required.
4. To save the report, click Save.



Refresh

You can also refresh existing report if they are not required.



The steps to refresh an existing report are as follows:

1. In the eScan Management Console, in the left pane, under Dashboard, click Reports & Notifications.
2. On the Reports & Notifications page, on the right pane, in the table, select the check box next to the name of the report that you want to delete, and then click Refresh.



Delete

You can also delete existing report creation schedules if they are not required.



The steps to configure an existing report are as follows:

1. In the eScan Management Console, in the left pane, under Dashboard, click Reports & Notifications.
2. On the Reports & Notifications page, on the right pane, in the table, select the check box next to the name of the report that you want to delete, and then click Delete.
