Agent For Linux

You can create Update Agent for Linux using eScan Corporate. This customized agent will send a notification to the administrator that eScan has been installed on this particular machine. Administrator also allows you to deploy the Created Agent for Linux remotely on any endpoint in the network. This will automatically move the Linux Endpoint to pre-defined Group (as defined by you at the time of creating the Agent) once agent is installed on the Endpoint.

How to create an Agent for Linux Steps

Pre-requisite

  • For the first instance of creating a customized agent for Linux, the administrator will have to download the files from the download link. Customized Setup of Agent for Linux can be created only after downloading this file.

  1. Go to Administration > Customized Setup and click Agent for Linux.
  2. You will be forwarded to Setup File Settings Window.
  3. Define the following settings-

  • Description: Give brief description for the Agent
  • Distribution: Select Distribution using the drop down
  • Source Setup file path: The source setup file path will be displayed automatically.
  • Group: Click browse to select a managed group for which agent is created or you can also create a new group.
  • Server IP: By Default Server IP Address will be displayed, you can change the IP Address of the Server in case you have more than one eScan Corporate Server.
Note:
eScan Agent will send Events to the Corporate Server hosted on the Server IP Address

  1. Click Save.
How to deploy Linux Agents (Debian based Operating System)?

  1. Download agent from the link on the eScan Management console and save it at the desired path on the computer where you wish to install eScan Client.
  2. Open the terminal for installing Agent.
  3. Installation of Agent requires root or sudo user authentication.
  4. After Login as root or sudo user, go to the path where the Agent_setup.deb file has been saved.
  5. Install the agent from the path using the following command – dpkg – i. (for RPM based setup – rpm -ivh).
  6. Agent installation will start, on completion you will be informed through a message and the Agent will start on your computer.
