Update Agent

In a large organization the Administrator can create computer groups for better management and distribution of Policies and Updates. Using eScan they can install Update agent on any managed endpoint (where eScan Client is already installed). This update Agent will take the signature updates from eScan Corporate Server and distribute the same to other managed computers in the group.

This tab will allow you to add or remove computers as Update Agents. The computers added will act as Update Agents for the other clients in the group. This will reduce the traffic between the eScan Corporate Server and the client. The Update agent will alternatively query eScan Update servers on internet for getting updates whenever there is a connectivity problem between the update agent and eScan Corporate Server.

How to create an Update Agent?

  1. Go to Managed Computer and click Update Agent.
  2. Now browse the Endpoint to create update agent.
  3. Browse the Group for which the selected Endpoint will work as Update Agent.
  4. Click Add; you have successfully created an Update Agent

Note:
You can create any number of Update Agents as per your requirements.

  1. Click Close

  • Features of update Agents

  1. Download the antivirus signature updates from the eScan Server and share with other client machines on the network.
  2. Download the policy updates from the escan Corporate Server and share with the client in the group or the network.
  3. The update agent will take event updates from the client computers in the group or network and share it with the eScan Corporate Server.
  4. Remote Deployment of clients can be done through Update Agents.

  • Advantages of Update Agents

  1. Update Agent can be installed on any client computer connected to the network (where eScan is already installed).
  2. Update Agent will take the signature updates from eScan Corporate Server and distribute the same to other managed computers in the group. (Bandwidth is saved).
  3. Update Agent will alternatively query eScan Update servers on internet for getting updates whenever there is a connectivity problem between the update agent and eScan Corporate Server.
