Update
Description :- Updater automatically keeps your system’s protection up-to-date from all new emerging species of viruses and other malicious programs which appears frequently.
Configuration
Status
Last Database Updated – Shows the date of the current updated eScan antivirus signature files.
Run mode – Shows the status of the Updater service.
Buttons
Update Now : Clicking on this will begin the download of eScan updates from the internet.
Settings : To configure the Updater setting click on the Settings button.
A) General Config tab :- This tab contains the configuration page through where you can configure the updater to download the updates.
1. Select Mode section – In this section you can configuring the mode from where the updates will be downloaded.
a. FTP - This is the File Transfer Protocol (FTP) method of downloading the updates. When this mode is selected, eScan will connect to the MicroWorld FTP sites for downloading updates. (Refer to the Proxy section below for configuring Internet settings - HTTP)
b. HTTP - This is the Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP) method of downloading the updates. When this mode is selected, eScan will connect to the MicroWorld HTTP sites for downloading updates. (Refer to the Proxy section below for configuring Internet settings - FTP)
c. Network - This is the Network method of downloading the updates (Universal Naming Convention). A system with eScan can download updates from another eScan system in a Network (LAN) using this Mode. (Refer to the Proxy section below for configuring Internet settings – Source UNC Path)
Proxy Settings Section :- In this section the internet connection details is required to be configured.
Download via Proxy – Enable this if your system is connecting to the internet via a Proxy server.
HTTP: This section will be enabled when the HTTP mode of download is selected. In this section add the IP address and port of the Proxy server for internet connection. If the HTTP proxy server requires authentication, enter the valid Login Name and Password in the section provided.
FTP: This section will be enabled when the FTP mode of download is selected. In this section add the IP address and port of the Proxy server for FTP internet connections. If the FTP proxy server requires authentication, enter the valid Login Name and Password in the section provided.
Logon Type : Type of logon to the FTP server
