System locks up and is unresponsive on every reboot after installing eScan?
Observation:
(Before cleaning the malware) 1) The logs received indicated that there was a malware that had associated with the Operating System (OS) processes and to remove the malware, eScan had to first kill the other associated OS processes. But when that was tried, the OS would hang.
Solution:
Boot from a bootable CD. We used the UBCD for DOS bootable disk to boot & had to rename the infected processes manually based on the information obtained from the scan logs. After this we would boot again in Safe mode and run a full scan to remove the malware.(This worked and the malware was removed).
