Q. How to White-list a file blocked during proactive scanning?

Solution:

Proactive scanning is scanning of suspicious files that are in the process of execution, using an algorithm which checks for valid digital signatures and version number and other details in the file. In the event when a file fails to pass the check, the file is assumed to be suspicious and is consequently blocked.

In order to white-list such a file, the following steps are to be followed:

  1. Open the eScan Protection Centre..
  2. Select the Endpoint Security module.
  3. Under 'Reports' select 'View Report'
  4. In the 'Report for Endpoint Security' window, look for entries with a red cross and the required filename under 'Application Name'.
  5. Select the entry, right click and select 'Add to Whitelist'

The file has now been whitelisted and will not be blocked in future when attempt is made to run it.
