  1. While Saving the Excel (.xls) file to a File Server in the network it takes 10-15 seconds,which was slow, after installing eScan.

    Answer:
    for eg. espatch1.exe /OplockAdd

    Note: Follow this procedure on the File Server. For more information on Hotfix Command Line Parameters click here.

  2. My Windows XP Machine is not booting after installing eScan.

    Answer:
    a. Try running chkdsk /f /r (from any bootable Disk)
    b. Check the boot.ini file if the file is corrupted.

  3. System locks up and is unresponsive on every reboot after installing eScan?

    Answer:

    Observation:

    (Before cleaning the malware)

    The logs received indicated that there was a malware that had associated with the Operating System (OS) processes and to remove the malware, eScan had to first kill the other associated OS processes. But when that was tried, the OS would hang.

    Solution:

    Boot from a bootable CD (like UBCD for DOS bootable disk) & had to rename the infected processes manually based on the information obtained from the scan logs. After this we would boot again in Safe mode and run a full scan to remove the malware.(This worked and the malware was removed).

  4. The system lost Internet connectivity after eScan installation & eScan trying to download update via proxy

    Answer:

    Observation:

    The internet connectivity problem probably could be due to the malware which would have changed the browser settings to a proxy connection. eScan uses the internet settings from the default browser and hence it was trying to download updates via proxy.

    Solution:

    a. Fixing the IE settings resolved both the reported issues.
    b. For cleaning the malware if updates are not available, you can download the cumulative updates in portable executable form so that the updates/definitions could be updated on the infected system. Then begin scanning of the entire system. (Click here to go to the Updates download link).

  5. After installing eScan and rebooting, printer stops working and if the control would not start in some Intel Dual Core and NVidia Model.

    Answer:
    a) Launch services.msc from a run command
    b) Find the SLUNotify service & stop it
    c) Find the Software Licensing service & stop it (it may say that ReadyBoost needs that service to run; stop it anyway)
    d) Then restart both services , starting with Software Licensing and then SLUNotify service.
    Reboot is not required.

  6. After installing eScan v10 Corporate as a Client, all the options are greyed-out in the "eScan Protection Center".Why?

    Answer:
    This is by-design. You need to deploy eScan Password from the eScan Server's Management Console, using the option "Deploy Rule-Sets".

    Later on, when the password is successfully deployed and gets implemented on the eScan client systems, you may then be able to open eScan Protection Center by providing the password and then all the options can be accessed and can be configured accordingly.

  7. DOS Based Application sometimes doesn't work after installing eScan,But when we uninstall eScan it start working. How to resolve this?

    Answer:

    This is due to the error messasge with CLOSE and IGNORE button doesn't get displayed after we install escan. The DOS Application inspite of this error message also generates an event ID & due to this DOS Application doesn't start.

    To resolve this make the below changes in the Windows Registry

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows
    ErrorMode Reg_Dword
    Change the Value Data to 0

    The following are the parameters:

    ErrorMode=0
    This is the default operating mode that serializes the errors and waits for a response.
    ErrorMode=1

    If the error does not come from the system, this is the normal operating mode. If the error comes from the system, this logs the error to the event log and returns OK to the hard error. No intervention is required and the popup is not seen.

    ErrorMode=2

    This always logs the error to the event log and returns OK to the hard error. Popups are not seen

  8. My eScan is corrupted and want to uninstall, so I could do a fresh Installation of eScan. Is there any removal tool?

    Answer:
    You can use the eScan Removal tool for uninstallation of eScan. Click here to go to the Download Link page. After uninstallation of eScan using this tool, you need to reboot the system.

  9. I am unable to install eScan on my computer, which has NVIDIA ForceWare Network Access Manager ?

    Answer:

    NVIDIA ForceWare Network Access Manager installs a layer on the system, which causes conflict with eScan installation.

    To resolve this issue:

    a. Un-install NVIDIA ForceWare Network Access Manager
    b. Reboot the computer
    c. Re-install eScan
