Policy Templates
A Policy Template lets you regulate and monitor activities on eScan client installed computers. Along with enabling and disabling various eScan modules, you can configure eScan client in depth to take actions for specific events and threats.
Creating a Policy Template
To create a Policy Template, follow the steps given below:
- In the Policy Templates window, click New Template. New Template window appears.
- Define the Template Name.
- Select and edit the modules according to your preferences.
- Click Save. The policy template gets saved and added.
Assigning Policy Template to group(s)
To assign a policy template to group(s), follow the steps given below:
- In the Policy Templates window, select a policy.
- Click Assign to Group(s). Select Group window appears.
- Click Managed Computers.
- Select the Group(s) to which you want to apply the Policy Template and click OK. The Policy template gets assigned to the selected group(s).
Assigning Policy Template to Computer(s)
To assign a policy template to computers, follow the steps given below:
- In the Policy Templates window, select a policy.
- Click Assign to Computer(s). Assign template to computer window appears.
- Click Managed Computers.
- Select the computer(s) to which you want to apply the Policy Template and click OK. The Policy Template gets assigned to the selected computers.
Copying a Policy Template
To copy a Policy Template, follow the steps given below:
- In the Policy Templates window, select a policy.
- Click Copy Template. New Template window appears displaying settings from the original template.
- Enter a name for the copied template.
- Make the necessary changes and click Save. The Policy Template gets copied.
Editing a Policy Template
The Policy Template can be edited for Windows, Mac, and Linux endpoints. Each module of a policy template can be further configured according to your preferences.
To edit a Policy Template, follow the steps given below:
- Select a Policy Template and then click Properties. Properties window appears.
- Select a module and click Edit to configure it.
- After making changes, click OK. The Policy Template gets updated.
Deleting a Policy Template
To delete a Policy Template, follow the steps given below:
- In the Policy Templates window, select a Policy Template.
- Click Delete. A confirmation message appears.
- Click OK. The Policy Template gets deleted.
Parent Policy
The Parent Policy lets you to implement a change in policy setting to multiple policies at the same time. For example, if you want to make a policy change in a single module like File Anti-Virus in multiple policies; you can do this all at a time using Parent Policy.
To configure Parent Policy, follow the steps given below:
- In the Managed Computers screen, click Policy Templates.
- In the Policy Template window, click Parent Policy.
- Select and edit the required module according to your preferences.
- Click Assign To drop-down and select the policies for which the parent policy changes should be applied.
- Click OK. The Parent Policy will be updated and changes will be applied to all the policies selected.

Before disabling a module in Parent Policy, ensure that policies are unchecked from Assign To drop-down. |
