Q. I see a lot of disk space occupied by eScan “FBackUp” folder in my Local Drive. How can I Control it ?
A.
FBackUp folder is an auto-backup of the following executable files (EXE, DLL, OCX, SYS, DRV, and CPL) scan by eScan in encrypted format where eScan is installed.
You can control the FBackUp folder by
1.Stopping the auto-backup of files
- 1.Click on Start >> Run
- 2.Type regedit
- 3.Select the location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE >> SOFTWARE >> MicroWorld
- 4.On the right hand side select the key DWBackUpX
- 5.Right click on DWBackUpX,
- 6.Select Modify
- 7.Change the Value Data from 1 to 0
- 8.Click OK
- 9.Close the registry editor window
2.Restrict the FBackUp folder size
- 1.Click on Start >> Run
- 2.Type regedit
- 3.Select the location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE >> SOFTWARE >> MicroWorld
- 4.On the right hand side select the key DWMinDiskSpaceRequiredMB
- 5.Right click on DWMinDiskSpaceRequiredMB
- 6.Select Modify
- 7.Change the Value Data from 500 (Decimal) to a lower Decimal value
- 8.Click OK
- 9.Close the registry editor window
3.Changing the default FBackUp location
- 1.Click on Start >> Programs >> eScan for Windows >> eScan Protection Center
- 2.Click on Protection >> File Anti-Virus >> Settings >> Options
- 3.Expand the link “For quarantining of infected objects”
- 4.Double click “Use Folder name”
- 5.By Default the path is C:\Program Files\eScan\Infected. eScan will automatically create FBackUp in C:\Program Files\eScan\FBackUp
- 6.Change this path to D:\Infected, then the FBackUp folder will automatically be created in D:\FBackUp
