Q. I see a lot of disk space occupied by eScan “FBackUp” folder in my Local Drive. How can I Configure it ?
A.
FBackUp folder is an auto-backup of (*.EXE, *.DLL, *.OCX, *.SYS, *.DRV, and *.CPL) files scan by eScan and stored in an encrypted format.
Configuring / Checking pre-requisite disk space for Auto-backup to function:
The eScan Auto-backup will first check for the minimum available limit of hard disk space. If the minimum limit is available then the eScan Auto-backup will begin.
1.How to stop Auto-backup Feature (FBackUp)
- Select the location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE >> SOFTWARE >> MicroWorld (Refer:- FAQ - How to start the windows registry editor?)
- On the right hand side select the DWORD = DWBackUpX
- Double click on DWBackUpX
- The Default Value is 1. Change the Value Data from 1 to 0
- Click OK
2. How to change the location of Auto-Backup (FBackUp)
- Click on Start >> Programs >> eScan for Windows >> eScan Protection Center
- Click on Protection >> File Anti-Virus >> Settings >> Options
- Expand the link “For quarantining of infected objects”
- Double click “Use Folder name”
- By Default the path is C:\Program Files\eScan\Infected. eScan will automatically create FBackUp in C:\Program Files\eScan\FBackUp
- Change this path to D:\Infected, then the FBackUp folder will automatically be created in D:\FBackUp
3. How to limit Auto-Backup (FBackUp) size
- Select the location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE >> SOFTWARE >> MicroWorld (Refer:- FAQ - How to start the windows registry editor?)
- On the right hand side select the DWORD = DWMinDiskSpaceRequiredMB
- Double click on DWMinDiskSpaceRequiredMB
- The Default Value is 500 (Decimal). Change the Value Data from 500 (Decimal) to a lower Decimal value
- Click OK
