Q. How do I block a web-site but allow the sub-link of the blocked web site (eScan Ver.9 & 10). For eg. http://www.bbc.co.uk to be blocked & allow site http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather ?

Solution:

Step 1

Part ii: In eScan version 9
  1. Open the eScan Content Administrator
  2. Go to Webpage scanning
  3. Add the site to be blocked in the Any of the blocked filter Category
for eg. add the site bbc.co.uk

Part ii: In eScan version 10
  1. Open the eScan Protection Center
  2. Go to Web Protection Setting
  3. Add the site to be blocked in the Any of the blocked filter Category
for eg. add the site bbc.co.uk

Step 2

  1. Open the Registry (To open the registry click on Start and Run and type regedit and click on OK)
  2. Go to HKLM\Software\MicroWorld\ContentFiltering
On right hand side edit the below entry
 SubPagesAllowedCommaList (Reg_SZ)
 Value - (add the sub-links)
 for eg. bbc.co.uk/weather

With this setting the website http://www.bbc.co.uk will be blocked and website http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather will be allowed to be accessed.

NOTE: Apply the latest eScan Hotfix before making the above settings. (Click here to go to the Hotfix download link).
