- | Most of the time, you need to know a way to keep your data protected and secured even in Safe Mode; e.g., Any one with little knowledge of computers can start your system in Safe mode which is likely to result into all your files and folders becoming readily available to them. Upcoming Features in eScan
eScan is an all-purpose application for protecting data on the local network of an organization. The application ensures protection against viruses and malware, unknown threats and fraud, and allows you to control startup of applications by users and their access to devices and web resources.
Let us find out what are the upcoming features
What's new in the application?
• Wake-On-Lan for Schedule Scan:
The ability to perform almost all tasks in the client computers from a remote location had been a biggest boon to Administrators. eScan makes it possible to schedule full scan at specific time. Some clients miss the scheduled tasks because they may be turned off by the users. Turning on every computer manually is a tough task. This new feature helps an administrator to schedule a scan by waking a system by using Wake-on-Lan feature.
• One Time Password ( OTP )
eScan password protection restricts user access from violating a security policy deployed in a network. e.g. administrator has deployed a security policy to block all USB devices, but someone wants to access it for genuine reason. How would an administrator give him an access without violating the current security policy? OTP delivers the answer for the same by generating one time password for a period of time like 10 minute or one hour for that specified user to disable the module without violating existing policy.
• Document Printing Events:
Would you like to find out what and when a print job was carried out in your corporate network? May be you would like to keep track of the printing load in your local network? May be someone can send a print task while you are away and you won't even spot those several pages printed? You simply need printer management software to help you keep tabs on what is going on with your printing queue!. eScan goes one step ahead and record all the printing activity and send the events to eScan centralized console, so an administrator can catch hold of the users who are giving non productive print outs, and save costs involved.
• Event Caching for offline endpoints:
Many times corporate users carry laptops to home for completing the projects given. It opens up the security loophole where an administrator cannot control that users activity from centralized location. In these kind of scenarios, this feature cache the events like virus found, web site visited, application opened etc. and once this laptop is back in the network these events are sent back to the eScan centralized server to help an administrator to take proactive decision.
• New computer found:
It is very difficult for an administrator of a large enterprise, to find out new computers added in his network to deploy a security policy. This feature helps him to find out the new computers being added in his network. So that he can easily manage that computer and deploy the security policies.
What's Improved?
• Firefox and other browsers support:
Previously, eScan Management console was only supported with Internet Explorer 6 and above versions. Now it is compatible with Firefox and other browsers on windows as well as Linux operating systems.
• Time Synchronization for Application control and Web protection:
Once the security policy is set for Application control and Web protection to access it within a particular span of time. Users use to change the system time to negate the policy and use to access the web sites or applications. This feature will record the time when these kind of policies are set, and if any user change his system time it will again be synchronized and the applications and web sites will be blocked as defined.
• USB Modem blocking:
Now days USB Internet Modems, which provides faster internet connection can be brought in by user and can take access of an internet connection. This kind of USB Modems can be blocked by using this feature.
